IT-ConServ recognises that the backup solution required is not just based on the size of the business. Increasingly, with disk space having increased exponentially within the last 15 years, tape backups are often not completing within the allotted backup window. Backups and restores can also be a resource intensive BU function. With experience gained in large enterprise solutions, IT-ConserUK has adapted these technologies to deliver the same robustness and manageability to smaller and medium business . As standard, the software includes “previous version” and “self restore” functionality and we are able to offer both a locally managed software solution for the smaller business and a complete, managed, off-site solution for the larger requirement. Advanced backup solutions are no longer the preserve of the large corporate enterprise.

PC Point in Time Restores

A unique solution that is now on offer is a PC Point-in-Time restore option for the small to medium business where users tend to work locally. PCsnap can use existing client infrastructure or can be installed as an end to end system. Once installed this system will scan the network for PC clients and an initial snapshot of the PC will be made. This snapshot will then be retained and any changes to files other than system files will be added to the original snapshot as a pre-determined version. In the event of corruption or failure the user would then be able to restore either the entire PC from a point in time or individual files.

Other Useful Utilities

XP to Windows 7 Backup

This utility was designed and written for a global engineering company with 15000 users as an improvement to the utility offered by Microsoft. It will back up user settings in XP and restore them to the client machine once the operating system has been upgraded to Windows 7. It is SCCM integrated.

NAS Backup

NASbackup is a utility developed out of the growing utilisation of NAS devices to store data. These NAS devices often fall outside of the normal backup routine and since they are RAIDed, there is a confidence of reliability. NASbackup will scan the network for NAS devices and take a nightly backup of changed files.
